BEST NEW AGE, AMBIENT, OR CHANT ALBUM
According to the Moon
GEM + Cheryl B. Engelhardt with Dallas String Quartet

“The New Age album of the year has revealed itself, According to the Moon is a formidable contender that captivates from start to finish.”  -Art Daily

“In an era of fractured attention, this album offers radical presence. Composed, arranged, and performed entirely by women, it rejects algorithmic thinking in favor of lunar logic: cyclical, intentional, and unapologetically deep.”  -Cultr

About According to the Moon
GRAMMY®-nominated New Age artist Cheryl B. Engelhardt and top Australian producer/ ambient artist GEM Auset join forces across hemispheres for a sonic meditation on duality: distance and connection, light and dark, structure and improvisation. Composed during solar eclipses, solstices, and supermoons, the album reflects both celestial timing and the unfolding of a creative relationship.
Â
Their distinct approaches found harmony with the help of multi-GRAMMY Award-winning producer/mix engineer Lonnie Park, who co-produced and mixed the record, and multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning mastering engineer Jett Galindo. According to the Moon also features the Billboard-charting Dallas String Quartet on more than half the tracks, plus contributions from pop singer-songwriter Robin Tucker and GRAMMY®-winning vocalist and sound healer Johnaye Kendrick of the acclaimed vocal group säje.
Â
Recorded in Sydney, the French Alps, Los Angeles, and New York, Engelhardt’s piano- and voice-based cinematic-yet-ethereal scoring style blends seamlessly with GEM’s intricate electronic landscapes and vocal improvisations. Visually and musically, their contrast—GEM’s bright blonde presence and ambient sound palette meeting Engelhardt’s dark brunette energy and neo-classical sensibility—forms a cohesive whole.
Â
Released on the summer solstice, June 20, 2025, According to the Moon invites listeners into cycles of transformation, reflection, and peace—a celebration of contrast and the harmony it can create.
